Our Community comprises three Wards; Llandegley, Penybont and Cefnllys and they are all situated along the A44, one of the main routes into Powys from Herefordshire.
Approaching from the ancient hills of the Radnor Forest, the landscape opens out in front of you as you descend into the valley and proceed in the direction of first, Llandegley – then Penybont, and finally Cefnllys, whilst the A44 continues on to Rhayader.
As you travel into the valley, you will pass the hamlet of Llandegley on the left, which clusters around the ancient Church of St Tecla. On the opposite hillside, sits the Quaker Meeting House; The Pales.
On reaching Penybont, there are opportunities to pause for refreshment at The Thomas Shop or The Severn Arms, an old coaching inn.
Crossing the bridge over the River Ithon as you leave Penybont, you may wish to detour taking the left turn, following the signs to Cefnylls passing The Old Smithy. Taking this byway through spectacular scenery, you will reach a quiet picnic spot by the river. The pedestrian bridge nearby will take you to a track leading to the ancient Cefnllys Church which nestles in the hillside
